He haunted me through night and day, simmering and scorching me - teasing and taunting me - until I grasped him by the throat and forced him to be quiet. It was after the debriefing, after the explanations for my reprimand, after they had placed me in that dark cell and the key turned in the lock. That I had lost my men didn't hit me until afterwards. It wasn't a blind, overwhelming decision to pursue him. The enemy was in pursuit, but we were close to safety. And there was certainly no mention of revenge.
